Union Pacific Bailey Yard
Union Pacific Railroad’s Bailey Yard is the largest railroad classification yard in the world and was named in honor of former Union Pacific President Edd H. Bailey. Every 24 hours, Bailey Yard handles 10,000 railroad cars, and it’s an amazing site to watch the train cars get organized and hooked back up. Be sure to get a birds-eye view of all of the action from the seventh or eighth-floor viewing platforms at the Golden Spike Tower and Visitor Center.
Feather River Vineyard
Just a short 10-minute ride from our hotel you'll find Feather River Vineyard, located in the hills of the Southern Platte Valley. Their wines reflect the character and history of our geologic heritage. Natural river and windblown sediment have developed a mineral-rich soil that fosters vines that produce grapes of distinguishing quality. This beautiful area is the perfect spot to enjoy western Nebraska's newest wines, and a scenic stopping point for area locals, statewide travelers and wine buffs from across the country.
Buffalo Bill Ranch State Historical Park
You’ll want to put Buffalo Bill’s ranch on your list of things to do, of course. The historical park consists of 16 acres that house Buffalo Bill’s home as well as barns, an ice house, and several other features. The house has been restored and filled with period-appropriate furnishings as well as loads of Buffalo Bill memorabilia. The barn contains a collection of antique carriages that belonged to Bill as well as a variety of memorabilia from the days of his famous Wild West Show.
